Love Blossoms at The Greytown Orchards Retirement Village

Silverstream residents Barry Knight (71) and Sharon Williams (73) are next month preparing to become part of the Greytown community when they take occupancy of their newly completed villa at The Greytown Orchards Lifestyle Retirement Village.

If that wasn’t enough to get excited about, on Saturday the 27th of November, Barry took Sharon’s hand in marriage. The couple took this opportunity to experience a taste of what Greytown living would be like, spending the weekend together staying at the beautiful Heritage 11 listed property Wyett House.

The wedding was planned in true Greytown style and included some of its rich history and modern-day sophistication. It began the night before the wedding (Friday) with Barry bravely holding his bucks party at The White Swan Hotel, he was joined by his mates who shared some stories from Barry’s bachelor days over a couple of cold beers. Later that evening, with the help of his best man and some close mates, Barry managed to get back to his accommodation (relatively unscathed), where he rested up for the two big days that followed.

The “Big Day” (Saturday) was soon upon him. Accompanied by his best man Doug Stuart, Barry made his way to the ceremony which was held in the chapel at the historic Cobblestones Museum. Joined by 40 of their close friends and family the group waited quietly in anticipation for Sharon to arrive. The quiet chapel was soon filled with music and Sharon slowly walked down the aisle. As the guests reached for their hankies and tissues, Barry’s eyes filled with joyful tears as he greeted his beautiful bride. The couple then went on to exchange their vowels before being announced as husband and wife. Shortly after the ceremony the newlyweds disappeared to enjoy the moment together, before having their wedding photos taken in the English style gardens that surrounded their accommodation at Wyett House. While the newlyweds posed for the cameras their friends and family were invited to visit Greytown Orchards to celebrate the occasion with a glass (or two) of champagne. Once the photos were completed, they were reunited with their guests at the reception party which was hosted by The Offering Café, an amazing spread was put on and the celebrations continued into the night.

To top off what was already a wonderful weekend, the newlyweds and their guests were treated to a Sunday afternoon BBQ hosted by Greytown Orchards. During the afternoon some of their guest’s chose to relax in the orchard garden, while others made use of the games room in our newly build communal facility. A great afternoon was had by all, and it was the perfect way to cap off an amazing weekend for the newly married couple.

On Sunday afternoon Barry and Sharon were having a chat with our staff. Sharon said “At this moment I couldn’t be happier, I feel so relieved that everything went smoothly. I can’t show enough gratitude to the staff at Greytown Orchards. They have gone out of their way to make this day even more special for us.” Sharon went on to say she is very excited about what the future holds for them both and she is looking forward to calling Greytown their home.

Barry went on to add, “I look forward to spending every day with my new wife and enjoying our new home together.” As a loyal Lions Club member, Barry said he looks forward to becoming part of the Greytown community and continuing his service here with the Greytown Lions. Barry then invited the Greytown Orchards staff to one of his famous BBQs, which he plans to hold on the third weekend of next month on their new terrace at the Greytown Orchards. (We look forward to it Barry!)

Greytown Orchards wish Barry and Sharon Knight the very best for their future. We look forward to welcoming them into the village as new residents next month.
